Awareness Activity within the Return to School Campaign – Tartous

As part of "Back to School" campaign, the Syrian Society for Social Development team - Beit Al Yasmin Center "Child Protection and the Educational Process Support Sections", with the support of UNHCR, conducted an awareness-raising activity for children who had dropped out of school at Al-Hamiyah and Harisoun areas, Banias countryside.


The activity includes a practical explanation for children about health care and how to protect themselves from Coronavirus (sterilizing and washing hands - wearing masks- not shaking hands - spatial distancing) and the importance of preparing to return to school as it's a path to a better future.


The team also conducted a conversation with parents about the cooperation mechanism to facilitate the return of children to school and contribute to overcoming the difficulties they face.

 

Home Visits for Children with Specific Needs - Tartous

Due to the emergency conditions imposed by the precautionary measures to address Coronavirus, and the lack of communication means with the beneficiaries of Home-Based Rehabilitation program for children of displaced families. Home Rehabilitation Program officer at Beit Al-Yasmin, conducted home visits to follow up the progress of training and rehabilitation and their developments.


During the visits, there was a meeting with the mothers and children, stressing the need to follow up training at home, in a manner that ensures their continued development in the cognitive, educational and social skills areas.

 They were also provided with skills and activities that help them in developing independence skills, self-reliance and communication, and how to deal with urgent behavioral challenges with their children.

 

Distributing Food Baskets: “We are All One Family” Initiative - Tartous

Along with its humanitarian work, in helping the needy families especially the breadwinner women, who do not have a steady income. The Community Initiatives Team of the Syrian Society for Social Development at Beit Al Yasmin Center in Tartous, implemented "We are One Family" initiative.


During the initiative, 38 food baskets were distributed to women in Al-Beidah, Wata Al-Beidah, Mershtah, Bustan Mattana-Banias-Khirbet Al-Sindiana-Wadi Al-Khirbeh). These women were also transferred to the World Food Program through networking with GOPA.


The team committed to the procedures to prevent Coronavirus, during the distribution, by wearing gloves and masks.

 

Visiting Internally Displaced Families on the International Child Labor Day - Baniyas, Tartous

In light of the current economic conditions and the prevalence of child labor, a team from the Syrian Society for Social Development with the support of UNHCR, visited and followed up some of the displaced families in Harrison and Al-Hami area.


the Child Protection Team at Beit Al Yasmin Community Center, within the activities of the International Child Labor Day, followed up individual cases of children who drop out of schools and working children.

 In addition to awareness sessions for parents and children about the danger of child labor and how to protect them during work, choose jobs that do not constitute a danger to them or deprive them of their rights.

 And educate them about maintaining hygienic conditions, washing hands and not integrate with each other during work regarding the spread of the Coruna virus
