World Down Syndrome Day activity - Beit Al Yasmin - Banias - Tartous

"Different in abilities equal in humanity"
That's what expressed by Children's Club team, at Bait Al Yasmin Community Center in cooperation (UNHCR), on the World Down Syndrome Day to shed a light on the skills and abilities of children with Down syndrome, who need early support, training and attention. As the activity included making roses by the Club members and accompanying them with expressions about the talents and abilities that characterize children with Down syndrome. Roses were distributed in public places after attending an awareness session that was conducted by the center's HBR officer.

Teacher's Day Activity – Beit Al-Yasmin - Banias – Tartous

"The teacher is an inspiring and vibrant person, who is able to create a student hungry for knowledge.
Happy teacher's Day."


With these words, the Children' Club team at Beit Al Yasmin Community Center, and in cooperation with UNHCR, expressed their gratitude to their school and their teachers at Al-Murooj School in Banias as part of an activity celebrating the teacher's day.


Where the club's team presented greeting cards that they had prepared in advance at the center for the school administration and teachers.

 

Child Protection: An Activity to Develop Team Work Between the Members of the Child Protection Club – Tartus

Based on the importance of strengthening teamwork among the Children's Club members, and as a continuation of the Children's Club training series. CP team implemented, at Beit Al Yasmine Community Center and in cooperation with UNHCR, a targeted recreational activity for team building.


The activity included giving information about the archaeological place where the club members met, to enhance effective communication among its members.

In the end, they formed a collective board from materials, that they found in the surrounding nature.
 

 

Exhibitions and awareness activities on the International Women's Day in Tartous

"Women are an example of empowerment and achieving equality" This was the message of International Women's Day under the title (My decision will make a difference). That is through a bazaar for women's products set up by the Syrian Society for Social Development in cooperation with UNHCR, in Beit Al-Yasmine Center.

 The bazaar was distinguished by its diversity in displaying various handicrafts, through which the women emphasized the importance of their participation and shedding light on their effective role in society. The bazaar included a rich participation of people with special needs, followed by a segment of entertainment competitions within the celebration.
Whereas at Ward Jury Center, several activities were implemented with the participation of the Children's Club and the Women's Committee of GBV program, as several posters were shared on social media sites aimed of reaching the largest number of beneficiaries calling for changing some popular proverbs that reduce the importance of women and their social position.

 Where some women and female adolescent have also been trained in first aid by SARC and organizing an exhibition (My Decision Will Make a Difference) within the center included a set of stories and pictures of women and girls, who came first in their field and with their determination and persistence that had a great impact on their societies, introducing the visitors to the center and their beneficiaries, painting a mural by the Children's Club that including phrases emphasizing on gender equality and the right of women to express their opinion and their ambitions. The activities were concluded by presenting greeting cards and flowers by the Children's Club, for women who visit them in their homes and workplaces and greet them on this day.


At the Elton Al-Jurd Center, training activities were implemented to empower women breadwinners and to introduce them to ways to benefit from the surrounding environment and invest it in securing employment opportunities, including making use of dairy and milk products to improve the economic situation of their families.

 An awareness-raising activity was also conducted with SARC, the legal support department, to introduce women's rights at work and what is the duty of the employer towards working women.


The session concluded with an exhibition of the products made by that the women, as a message from women to society to emphasize the importance of enhancing their role in society and the beginning to achieve positive change in society.

A Reintegration Activity for Children with Society – Baniyas – Tartus

"I used to feel that they were a different from us, but today I knew that they are just like us and possessed abilities and talents that we may not have"


With these words expressed one of the adolescents of the Children's Club, during an inclusive activity carried out by the special needs team - Beit Al-Yasmin Center in cooperation with the UNHCR to promote the concept of integrating people with special needs with the community more, and to define and highlight their capabilities.

 

 As the activity started with some music on the electronic keyboard of one of the beneficiaries with special needs, followed by some competitions and concluded with an activity of writing phrases by the beneficiaries about their happiness and hanged them on the tree of love.
