16 Days of Activism against Gander-Based Violence

“Today you made us cry, you made us laugh, our emotions intertwined during this event, but we witnessed our young ones presenting real issues and sending messages to every individual in this society”.

This is what one of the women expressed during the artistic event organized by the Syrian Society for Social Development in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP) on the occasion of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign titled "Unite! Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls" at the Nabaa Salkhad Center in Sweida.

The performance began with artistic segments presented by children, followed by a theatrical presentation by a group of young boys and girls from the Child Protection Department who were empowered through the life skills curriculum. They addressed important issues such as child marriage, denial of education and rights, paternal control over daughters, psychological and physical violence, and the phenomenon of spreading rumors.

The aim was to shed light on these prevalent phenomena within society and find appropriate solutions.

The performance concluded with a song composed by the youth addressing gender discrimination, and the attendance reached 200 people.
