Awareness sessions and training courses for breadwinner women in Banias countryside- Tartous

With the aim of reaching and empowering breadwinner women, within the 16-Day campaign against Gender-Based Violence, the Syrian Society for Social Development team in Tartous in cooperation with the UNHCR, carried out awareness sessions in different areas of Banias countryside in order to promote gender equality and empower women.

 Which included training them on mushroom cultivation - knitting - sewing - distillation of roses, in addition to an awareness session on data privacy policy, and the available means to protect against electronic blackmail and clarify the laws related to cyber-crimes by SARC team, and
"The Door-Knocking" campaign for beneficiaries who are hard to reach through social media.
the campaign concluded with an exhibition of women's products that were accomplished during the campaign, as a message expressing the ability of women and their independence.

And filming a video by young men and women calling for change and equality, in addition to the opening of a library at the Arab Cultural Center in Banias, includes special books on women to enhance their role in society.

 

Distribution of small projects in Banias and Sheikh Badr- Tartous

In order to support livelihoods and securing a source of income for needy families and unemployed people, the Syrian Society for Social Development In cooperation with the UNHCR and in coordination with Tartous Agriculture Directorate, distributed small pastoral projects that included (sheep - cows) for a number of beneficiaries in Banias - Sheikh Badr and Qadmous.


"Thank God, we do not need to ask for help from people, now I can support my children from my own work" This is what one of the beneficiaries said, who is a breadwinner woman who supports her children. She's got a small pastoral project; and expressed her happiness and belief in the importance of hard work for the sake of her children.

 

Visiting the Elderly in their Homes - Baniyas, Tartous.

Due to the spread of Coronavirus and in order to preserve the safety and health of the elderly, SSSD, Beit Al-Yasmin Center, with the support of the (UNHCR) and in coordination with the health district in Banias, visited a number of elderly whose condition does not allow them to leave the house.

 Where some tests were conducted (pressure and diabetes) in order to check on them and their health.

 The activity ended with our wishes for health and wellness, and ensure commitment to preventive measures of the virus.
