Visiting Internally Displaced Families on the International Child Labor Day - Baniyas, Tartous

In light of the current economic conditions and the prevalence of child labor, a team from the Syrian Society for Social Development with the support of UNHCR, visited and followed up some of the displaced families in Harrison and Al-Hami area.


the Child Protection Team at Beit Al Yasmin Community Center, within the activities of the International Child Labor Day, followed up individual cases of children who drop out of schools and working children.

 In addition to awareness sessions for parents and children about the danger of child labor and how to protect them during work, choose jobs that do not constitute a danger to them or deprive them of their rights.

 And educate them about maintaining hygienic conditions, washing hands and not integrate with each other during work regarding the spread of the Coruna virus

 

Awareness Sessions on Exam Anxiety – Tartus

In the light of the current conditions and the state of fear and stress that afflict students in the stage of preparing for the final exams.

 The Syrian Society for Social Development in Tartous with the support of UNHCR, implemented awareness sessions within the Psychological Support program via WhatsApp and another session in the community center.

 These sessions for students in the intensive remedial course about exam anxiety, its causes, symptoms and methods to help alleviate it and how to organize time, by sharing their experiences with help of the educational section to answer students ’questions regarding the subjects and provide them with exam forms.

 

Carry out a Small Startup Project Course in Tartous

As part of its humanitarian work, by supporting and empowering families who lost their breadwinners and people who were affected during the war, the Syrian Society for Social Development in Tartous, with support of UNHCR, implemented a small project management course in which 16 beneficiaries participated.

The training targeted breadwinner women and people who were exposed to accidents due to missiles and battles from both displaced and local communities. The course included information about the methods of project management and its economic feasibility study.

It is noteworthy that the course lasted for eight days, recipients will be interviewed later, only 12 of them will be chosen to finance their projects.

 

Intensive Remedial and Educational Courses for Basic Education Certificate Students - Tartous.

In order to help students, prepare for the basic education certificate exam this year. The Syrian Society for Social Development in Tartous is conducting remedial and revision courses for basic education certificate students, in cooperation with Directorates of both Social Affairs and Labor and the Education in Tartous and with the support of UNHCR.

Experienced and competent teaching staff participate in giving lessons in specialist subjects such as mathematics, general sciences and English language with full commitment to apply procedures to address Coronavirus through achieving distancing between students and sterilization.


The largest number of students enrolled for these courses, was at Elton Al-Jurd Center for Rural Development. About 70 students were enrolled in Ward Jury and Beit Al-Yasmin Centers in Banias and in Elton Al-Jurd Center for Rural Development as well.
