Awareness Activity within the Return to School Campaign – Tartous

As part of "Back to School" campaign, the Syrian Society for Social Development team - Beit Al Yasmin Center "Child Protection and the Educational Process Support Sections", with the support of UNHCR, conducted an awareness-raising activity for children who had dropped out of school at Al-Hamiyah and Harisoun areas, Banias countryside.


The activity includes a practical explanation for children about health care and how to protect themselves from Coronavirus (sterilizing and washing hands - wearing masks- not shaking hands - spatial distancing) and the importance of preparing to return to school as it's a path to a better future.


The team also conducted a conversation with parents about the cooperation mechanism to facilitate the return of children to school and contribute to overcoming the difficulties they face.

 

The Success of Middle and High School Diploma Students - Rural Damascus

Every hard-working person has a share, with determination, perseverance, and with great success. Students in the secondary and middle school diplomas passed the final exam with a success rate of 69%, as parents and students received the news of success with great joy after a march of students ’commitment to the educational sessions held at the center and challenging the health conditions the country went through.

 By continuing with educational sessions through WhatsApp groups and providing a psychological support and health awareness session on the Covid 19 virus by the psychologist and director of the Child Protection Case prior to the exam and accompanying students with intensive exam sessions during the exam period and answering all their questions.

Awareness Sessions on Exam Anxiety – Tartus

In the light of the current conditions and the state of fear and stress that afflict students in the stage of preparing for the final exams.

 The Syrian Society for Social Development in Tartous with the support of UNHCR, implemented awareness sessions within the Psychological Support program via WhatsApp and another session in the community center.

 These sessions for students in the intensive remedial course about exam anxiety, its causes, symptoms and methods to help alleviate it and how to organize time, by sharing their experiences with help of the educational section to answer students ’questions regarding the subjects and provide them with exam forms.

 

Intensive Remedial and Educational Courses for Basic Education Certificate Students - Tartous.

In order to help students, prepare for the basic education certificate exam this year. The Syrian Society for Social Development in Tartous is conducting remedial and revision courses for basic education certificate students, in cooperation with Directorates of both Social Affairs and Labor and the Education in Tartous and with the support of UNHCR.

Experienced and competent teaching staff participate in giving lessons in specialist subjects such as mathematics, general sciences and English language with full commitment to apply procedures to address Coronavirus through achieving distancing between students and sterilization.


The largest number of students enrolled for these courses, was at Elton Al-Jurd Center for Rural Development. About 70 students were enrolled in Ward Jury and Beit Al-Yasmin Centers in Banias and in Elton Al-Jurd Center for Rural Development as well.
