Awareness Session on Leishmania – Sinjar, Idleb

In response to leishmaniasis spread among most children in Sinjar- Idlib countryside, Syrian Society for Social Development team, in cooperation with UNHCR, carried out an awareness campaign on leishmaniasis disease. Which targeted most age groups in Siraa and Sinjar areas, the activities included displaying an explanatory video about leishmaniasis and how it is transmitted and places where it spreads on the body.

Also, pictures were shown about the sand fly that transmits the disease, and the shape of the acne and how we distinguish it from all other skin allergic acnes.

We discussed with children the most important ways to prevent leishmaniasis, like clean the place, wear clothes with long sleeves, and see a doctor if the acne remains for more than a week.
