Educational Remedial Courses for Middle and High School Diploma Students - Hama

Many children suffer from poor understanding in some educational subjects and academic attainment, therefore, and based on this need, the Syrian Society for Social Development, in cooperation with UNHCR, carried out strengthening courses for students of both middle and high school certificates in Hama governorate to strengthen and increase their educational attainment and help them pass the exams successfully.
These courses have positive turnout on children and their families, as one of the children said, " this course, did not only help me pass, but also let me know and make sure that I'm a good student, but I was not studying well and no one followed-up on me while studying"
The pass rate for ninth grade students was 65%, and for third high school students 61%.

 

Sterilization Campaign for all Offices of the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor, and The Institute for Mental Disabilities - Hama

Syrian Association for Social Development team in Hama Governorate contributed in a sterilization campaign to prevent the spread of the Corona pandemic, which included all offices of the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor from inside and out and its corridors, in order to ensure the safety of workers in it.

The sterilization campaign included the headquarters of the rural industries units (Hayaleen - Ouj - Masyaf - Deir Al-Khalib) attached to the Directorate.In addition to the Institute for Mental Disabilities and the offices of the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor in Idlib and Raqqa in Hama.

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support: An Awareness Session - Naseej Center, Hama

The Syrian Society for Social Development team, in cooperation with UNHCR, implemented an awareness session entitled "Urinary Incontinence in Children as a Warning Sign" within the MH and PSS programmes in Naseej Center, Hama.

The session aimed to raise awareness among women about the problem of urinary incontinence in children and its causes. Furthermore, the medical aspect was emphasized through directing women towards medical advice.

During the session, the women shared their experiences, whereby each of them explained the methods they were using with their children to tackle the problem.

In the end, the women asked the specialist questions individually, and they were thanked for attending the session.

 

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support: "I Can, and I Will" Event - Naseej Center, Hama

For all those with the most beautiful smile and greatest courage, and on the occasion of the International Day for Cancer Patients, the Syrian Society for Social Development team, in cooperation with UNHCR, carried out an event entitled "I Can, and I Will”, within the MH and PSS programmes in Naseej Al-Balad Center, Hama.

The event aimed to increase the awareness of women and men about cancer, its symptoms, and the importance of early detection. Also, light was shed on the psychological problems faced by patients, and how to provide them with the appropriate psychological support.

In addition, a health and psychological awareness session was implemented, and cancer patients who recovered shared their experiences. Furthermore, they sent motivating messages to other patients, such as: "Your smiles are beautiful, and incorporate new hope! With a strong will, you will all beat cancer. We learn how to be strong from you!”

The event concluded by thanking the attendees. Also, the beneficiaries said: “You have illuminated our hearts!”
