Shat-ha Leishmaniapest control CLI

In order to increase the safety and protection factors for the families in Shat-ha, the Syrian Society for Social Development team in cooperation with the UNHCR organized a community initiative entitled "Shat-ha Leishmania pest control CLI”.
During the FGDs, the urgent need to control the insect pest that caused leishmania was observed. It requires spraying of the insecticide in an aerosol form. Insecticides are surface pesticides that do not harm human, animal or plant health. Therefore, the people proposed a CLI to spray the places where this insect was collected and to use appropriate pesticides under the supervision of specialists to reduce the spread of this insect, its harmful effects and eliminate its breeding grounds.

The "my new baby" CLI - Al - Sqailbia

In order to increase the safety and protection factors for infants and newborns, the Syrian Society for Social Development, in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), organized a community initiative entitled " my new baby"
The husbands of the pregnant women in the village of Al-Asharnah in Al-Sqailbia cooperated and exchanged experiences in cutting the wood, painting it and then making wooden beds for their babies. The women explained that when their children grow a little, the beds will be presented to another family waiting for a new baby to ensure the continuity of the CBI.

My beautiful Hair

WASH team conducted an awareness session entitled "My beautiful Hair" for 20 children of the group 9-10 years old in the community center of Masyaf (Jarneit Al TAr), where some children performed a purposeful play, they previously had rehearsed using large cartoon characters to tell about hair hygiene for the prevention of lice insect, especially in schools. The correct method of cleaning hair and the times of use of lice shampoo was explained. The children also designed, along with the volunteers, an awareness poster with singing some songs.

Cooperation to establish protection

Among the topics raised by the members of the Child Protection Club in Jarneit Al Tar/ Al-Saqailbiya - Hama is the topic : dangers of children and adolescents playing in the street and in dangerous places, because there is no safe space for them.
Based on the suggestions of the members of the club, The activity of preparing and cleaning the village playground and preparing it to be ready for the activities of children and secure the space for them to play and entertain themselves where there was an atmosphere of enthusiasm among young people, who said for the first time that they feel responsible for the safety of the younger children.

Be safe

As a part of the national breast cancer screening campaign “be safe”.

The Syrian Society for Social Development in Hama, has established in cooperation with the UNFPA-Syria, several activities and sessions aimed at spreading the awareness about early detection of the disease.
Sessions were held within Aman Center in partnership with the Directorate of Health, they stated on the importance of early screening, mechanisms of clinical detection and, the addresses of the Health centers where the Mammography is available.

The group also held seminars within the faculties of Education, Literature and, The Nursing School, In partnership with the Health Directorate, The National Union of Syrian Students, Hama University, Maharda Charitable Society, Charity Musyaf and, The Syrian Family Organization.
During these seminars we talked about the mechanisms of early detection, offered some sweets and, hosted a nutritionist to speak about the subject.
At the end of the campaign, the DOH in partnership with the working associations and the UNFPA held a central ceremony that presented artistic awareness shows and, questionnaires. In addition to, a technical show we presented as the very first time in Hama “black light”, the show represented the community support of the patient and the ways of recovering from the disease.

The audience expressed their admiration of the information we provided and, the offered facilities by the association for the referral to health centers for radiological examination.

 

My child’s health is my responsibility

There has been a recent increase in the use of bad and excessive smart phones and mobile phones by children, which negatively affects their health and safety of their eyes.

So, the Syrian Society for Social Development in cooperation with the (UNHCR) organized a session to raise awareness about the protection of children under the title of "Health of my child”. Dr. Ali Al-Helouni, a neurologist, spoke about the harmful effects of excessive use of electronic devices on the nervous system and on children's sense of sight.

He stressed the importance of children's leisure time in things that are harmless to their.

Mentoring Programme - Fly, fly

The role of the friendship groups for people with special needs is to develop cognitive skills and to increase the children's language. Therefore, the Syrian Society for Social Development team in cooperation with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees carried out a series of activities for the Al-Wafa group for children with special needs through which children were introduced to all types of transportations “land, sea, air “andthe specs of each one. We concluded the series as well as talk about how to protect ourselves from accidents while crossing the streets.

World Day of Mental Health

On the occasion of mental health World Day, the Syrian Society for Social Development, in cooperation with the (UNHCR), organized an event in which we talked about the behavioral disorders of children (hyperactivity, anger, bullying). then presented each disorder through image theater and the ladies found solutions to the problems posed and explained more about the disorder.
As for the adolescents, the work was about bullying only and the children shared their experiences and problems they saw or were exposed to in schools.

SSSD League - Hama

Al Sadiq program is one of the most important programs that support the youth skills. In addition, since meeting their interests, engaging them in the community center and achieving the UNHCR's approach in promoting social diversity are our priorities, The Syrian Society for Social Development – Nasij balad in partnership with UNHCR held a football tournament in which teams play to quality for the final match.
The league games included group escort sessions after each match in which some of the Al Sadiq values were introduced and dropped on their teams and practicing favorite hobby which is (Football) such as (cooperation) the acceptance of the other opinion and loss.
The final match was an event attended by approximately 125 person of children and residents of the neighborhood to encourage the two teams.
In conclusion, we crowned the first and second teams, awarded the league cup, gold and silver medals, presented a prize for the top scorer of the tournament and the best goalkeeper.

A Youth Skills - Mentoring Programme

Because the evaluation and the follow-up of the impact assessment was one of the most important factors in the success of our work in accompanying and development, SSSD team, in cooperation with the United Nations of High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Home of the family CC / Masyaf _Hama included the young participants in the SSSD got talent event _ which was held in August on the occasion of World Day of Youth activities_ in the activities of the friend program to develop their talents , enhance their self-confidence and prepare them to be active members of the community and in the community center.
The activities carried out on the walls of the community center and the forming sports teams to be ready to participate in any sport activity or competition that could be implemented within the region in the future.
