Community-lead Initiatives: An initiative to support female heads-of-household, “Small Dream”—Beit al-Kull Community Center, Hassakeh

Based on the belief in the ability of women and their potential energy to produce and contribute to the development of themselves, and with the aim of supporting projects related to protection and providing support for projects proposed by volunteer and youth groups, and achieving community participation and spontaneous solidarity, the Syrian Society for Social Development implemented in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees / Bayt Al-Kul Center in Al-Hasakeh and within a program Youth initiatives. An initiative entitled (Zughayer's Dream).


Its leaders were a group of women without a breadwinner who carried the burden of life and trained in the profession of sewing, through which they were able to secure a material income that supported them to meet the needs of their families.


Other women who do not have a breadwinner (widowed and separated) The initiative aimed to train (60) women who support (60) families in the profession of sewing and to enroll women who were trained and ready in the labor market, and to enhance the self-confidence of the beneficiaries through psychosocial support sessions by the association's team.


Among the current and future achievements: The workshop started in coordination with a group of shops and manufactured a set of clothes and sold them in the market to ensure that the operator’s expenses were covered and continued to work. They also started sewing a group of children’s clothes for distribution to the most needy group for free during Eid Al Fitr as a humanitarian initiative.


The initiative had a positive impact regarding the society's perception of widowed and separated women, as well as the perception of the beneficiaries towards themselves
