International Youth Skills Day 2019: “I’m Special” Event—Aleppo

Based on the belief in the uniqueness of each human being—in one’s possession of a unique talent that distinguishes them from the rest of human beings, enhances one’s self-confidence and refines one’s morals—, on the occasion of the International Youth Skills Day, the Syrian Society for Social Development (SSSD), in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), organized a special event under the title “I’m Special.”

Preparations for the selection of talents from all Aleppo CCs were launched by the organization of a SSSD Got Talent casting. Eventually, 90 talented beneficiaries were selected to present their talents during the event in 20 diverse performances.

The event included performances of the brass band, art performances of children with specific needs, group and solo singing, dances, sandpainting and the Conjuror.

All beneficiaries of the SSSD CCs in Aleppo participated in the event. The number of beneficiaries reached 1,000, in addition to the families of the talented children.

Many beneficiaries said that it was their first time on stage in front of a public, presenting their talent without fear nor shame, that they greatly rejoiced in the presence and encouragement of the audience.
