In the not too distant past, they were young men and women, gentlemen and ladies, full of life, energy and passion. Today, having grown (a little bit) older, they became senior men and women, mature with life experience and wisdom—“The hoary head is a crown of glory; it is found in the way of righteousness,” as the Proverb goes. Yesterday, they were where we are now; tomorrow, we shall be where they are now.

On the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, the Syrian Society for Social Development (SSSD), in partnership with the UNHCR, held on Oct 1, 2019, at the Ghosn Community Center, Izraa, a special event to celebrate seniors. The event included a welcome reception, followed by a variety of folklore and heritage-related performances, the whole crowned with a festive banquet with attendees.
