GCBI: Joy – Hama

The underlying goal of the Syrian Society for Social Development (SSSD) is to spread love and joy everywhere. Believing that the right to play and to recreation for children is sacred, a group of young people, supported by the SSSD team in Hama and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), launched a global capacity building initiative under the title “Joy”.
The initiative aimed at creating friendships between the children of both IDP and host communities in Hama city through the design and fitting out of a playground that includes a number of educational and sports games. The GCBI included implementing some events at the Shabablik Center at the Station Roundabout, including various activities (competitions and games, prize distribution, drawing on the faces of children, taking souvenir pictures of the participants). The GCBI activities started immediately after the end of the Spring Break in schools.
