In Syria, children up to age 15 make up 40% of the population and Almost two thirds of the population is youth under 24. This is a CHALLENGE. It is also an OPPORTUNITY.
Although school enrollment ratios are very high, they tend to decrease sharply at the ninth grade official exam. Many regions and areas still have a high drop-out rate where only 50% of the children are enrolled in school and most of them work after school hours.
A youth and labor study has also shown that most of those who work started working at the age of 14-16, the poor economic conditions of their family being the main reason.
